Meet The Natural Baby : Meet the Intern : Part 3 May 03 2022

Meet Allison Cress - UGA FACS Intern at The Natural Baby!

Allison Cress UGA Intern - College of Family and Consumer Sciences

Hello everyone! My name is Allison Cress. I am interning with The Natural Baby this semester. I have a lot of ideas for the semester and I am very excited! Some of my ideas for research and content topics include Praise vs. Encouragement, Breastfeeding, and Baby-Led Weaning.

I wanted to intern at The Natural Baby for several reasons. I love that The Natural Baby works with families during such an exciting and transitional time! I am passionate about supporting families both emotionally and with products and resources that will be beneficial to the parents and babies. I also like that The Natural Baby caters to the whole birthing experience including doulas, midwives, and childbirth educators. Childbirth education is something that I feel strongly about because I believe that education can have such a positive effect on both the parents and baby, yet often is neglected.

A little bit about me…

Overall, I would say I have an outgoing, extroverted personality type. I love to try new things and make friends.

I am a Human Development and Family Sciences major here at the University of Georgia. I am a senior this year and will be graduating in the Spring. Next year, I will attend nursing school to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. My main career goal is to provide primary care from a holistic approach to patients of all ages.

Athens has been such a fun place to live for the last four years. Hands down, my favorite thing to do in Athens is to cheer on the Dawgs in Sanford Stadium on Saturdays! The iron horse is also one of my favorite spots. I enjoy having picnics there and watching the sunset with a group of friends. I also love to go on walks down Milledge Avenue and around campus with friends. Walks are always a great study break!
